2017 MSLA Conference

MSLA Annual Conference

Thurs. 16th March 2017: MSLA Annual Conference

The 2017 Annual MSLA Conference will be held on Thurs. 16th March 2017. The Annual Conference will follow after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will commence at 9.00am sharp. All MSLA members are encouraged to attend the AGM as it is your chance to help shape the MSLA moving forwards. There is no need to register to attend the AGM and the agenda will be emailed to all members in due course.

Annual Conference registration will take place from 10am with the main Conference session starting promptly at 10.30am.

Based on previous conference feedback and for conference-delegates only, we are going to be holding a FREE networking drinks reception the evening before the conference (Wed. 15th March from 7:30pm). This will give you time to network with MSL colleagues - a very rare opportunity indeed. Please note that whilst we will provide the venue & network reception, you are responsible for your accommodation,  meals and parking if required.  Please remember to select "Attending Networking Event" on the online-registration form.

The MSLA Annual Conference is regarded as excellent value for money and the 2016 event attracted a record 128 delegates in total, 113 of which were Pharma employees representing 39 unique Pharmaceutical Industry companies.  This demonstrates the growing strength and depth of MSLA awareness and the perceived value of the MSLA Annual Conference.

For the 2016 Conference we received 85 completed feedback forms (66% of all delegates). 95% rated the overall organisation 4 or 5 out of 5 and 94% rated the overall education experience 4 or 5 out of 5 (1= poor; 5=excellent). Below is a selection of free text comments from delegate feedback forms:

Question: What was the best aspect of this event?

  • Great and varied programme, well thought out topics and excellent speakers.
  • Statistics were unbelievable, Prof Hackshaw is a genius.
  • Perception of risk - extremely informative and entertaining.
  • Rina Newton was fantastic
  • I am a new MSL, therefore Rina Newton and Stats was brilliant.

Question: What impact will this event have on your future delivery of the MSL/MSL lead role?

  • More convinced to become an MSL, currently an aspiring MSL. I have more insight in to the role and feel better equipped for the interview. Sharpened my skills and competencies in delivering better value.
  • CPD and great ‘code in practice’ info and debate. Clarity around ABPI clauses versus company SOPs. Good for internal discussions on the MSL activities. I’ll think carefully about field activities, how to evaluate risk and ensure documentation and evidence in place.
  • Confidence in discussing statistics with HCPs
  • Communication and evaluation of risk. Encouraged me to think how I ‘frame’ data.
  • Hope to attend the 2016 ‘How To’ courses. Will promote MSLA to my colleagues.

Following registration you will be sent a Survey Monkey which will ask you to rank MSL related Code topics in order of preference. Rina will focus the workshop on the three most popular topics from the Survey Monkey. 30 minutes will be reserved at the end of the workshop to give the opportunity for discussion of any other burning MSL related Code topics/ scenarios.
